INDEX AWARD FINALIST, EVE BLOSSOM AUTHORS NEW BOOK: MATERIAL CHANGE Special Book Preview at SOCAP 2011
San Francisco, CA (August 30, 2011) Founder & CEO of Lulan Artisans and INDEX AWARDS 2011 Finalist, Eve Blossom will offer a preview of her first authored book, MATERIAL CHANGE, at SOCAP 11. MATERIAL CHANGE (Metropolis Books) will officially be on book store shelves in October 2011 with Eve beginning a nationwide book tour this Fall.
MATERIAL CHANGE provides an inside look to the beginnings of Lulan Artisans (www.lulan.com), and the ongoing development of a for-profit social venture. The book includes other social enterprises throughout the world that helps show a framework for others. Material Change provides a face to face personal look at the people behind the work, their designs and processes as well as their heritage and culture. The book also shares Blossom’s trips to Southeast Asia and her exposure to the horrors of the sex trade Lulan has focused on cultural artistry while equally enhancing the economic development and sustainable livelihoods of its weavers, dyers, spinners and finishers who live and work in Cambodia, Vietnam, Laos, Thailand and India.
Eve Blossom is a returning attendee of SOCAP. In her third year at the conference, Eve sees no better place to preview her first book. “The people that attend SOCAP are some of the most innovative people working in social entrepreneurship. It’s a collective of people that are do-ers in the world and understand the power of change by living it everyday,“ states Eve Blossom.
The INDEX: Award 2011 committee in Copenhagen announced the finalists for the INDEX: Award 2011 in June 2011. Eve Blossom and Lulan Artisans are among the finalists in the WORK category. The INDEX: Award has five categories: Body, Home, Work, Play and Community. The final winners of each category of the INDEX: Award 2011 was announced September 1st, 2011 and will receive each a monetary prize of 100,000 Euros. All finalists will be included in the world touring INDEX: 2011-Exhibition. Last year the INDEX exhibit counted over 6 million visitors. In addition to this recent nomination, Eve is also an Aspen Institute Liberty Fellow, TED speaker, and trained as an architect. She currently lectures around the world on integrated design and innovative social business methodologies.
